Problem
When ActivateWork, a nonprofit dedicated to providing tuition-free training in high-demand tech skills, initially sought our HR services, they grappled with the challenge of building a cohesive organizational culture. As a small organization, they faced difficulties in fostering values and norms that could contribute to a unified and positive work environment.Â
Solution
To address ActivateWork’s challenge, our HR company implemented targeted solutions and services. We facilitated an all-staff meeting designed to brainstorm and collectively define “how we work” within the organization. Through open discussions and collaborative efforts, we guided the team to articulate and develop values and norms that resonated with the organization’s mission and objectives. These newly established values and norms were then incorporated into performance evaluations and hiring practices to ensure alignment with the organizational culture.
Results
The facilitated sessions and incorporation of values and norms into everyday practices resulted in the development of a more cohesive and positive organizational culture. Employees became more aligned with the organization’s mission and values, fostering a sense of shared purpose and unity.
