Problem

PEBC was in need of a Recruitment Coordinator—someone who could craft and execute a recruitment strategy for their teaching program. Eager to go above and beyond in their Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives, they knew they had to attract more diverse candidates that can better reflect the communities they serve. As such, they needed a candidate with a proven track record of doing just that.

Solution

In addition to establishing specific experience and criteria, which included the need for previous experience in recruiting for other education organizations, we helped the organization weigh the need for experience in recruiting from and on behalf of diverse communities. This emphasis helped us target candidates with connections with diverse communities and a passion for education that extended to the effect it had on said communities. Targeting specific candidates with that recruitment education experience was the first step, but the step beyond that was a thorough screening and interview process, where we assessed their passion and various connections with different communities that PEBC may otherwise lack, only pushing forward candidates who could effectively help the organization reach specific DEI targets.

Results

We sourced a diverse candidate who not only had a background in recruiting, but also had deep connections within the Latino community in Colorado. This helped the organization achieve DEI targets in the months following the candidate’s hire.
